[Update by Brian]
This comic was inspired by the "phantom doubles" power-up found in Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos, a Nintendo game in which your ninja could split himself into one or two additional ninjas that would mirror the actions of the original ninja. It was a really cool idea, and you could use the doubles in a lot of creative and strategic ways.
I've started work on assembling the materials for the third Mike and the Ninja book! I've found some great extras (some of which have really taken me down Memory Lane), and intend to produce a couple of additional extras, as well. I'll keep you updated on the progress--the book has to be done in time for Cape Comic Con, which is April 19-21 this year. I can't wait.
That's all for now! Until next week, take care, and thanks for reading!

Tend to your friend who just got shot? Or stay latched to a table out in the open, laser blasts streaking all around you, to save the world? I'm honestly pretty glad I don't have to deal with that decision this morning. Or hopefully ever.
On Monday, I wrapped up all of the artwork on all remaining comics. Mike and the Ninja is done...sorta. Now I just have to put a book together, and start thinking about that new website design I hinted at a while ago--something brighter and friendlier, but still definitively Mike and the Ninja.
I have to go to my real job now! Take care, and thanks for reading!

Do you ever wonder where the ninja keep all of these weapons that are obviously way too large to conceal? The question has crossed my mind, as well, and I'm willing to bet it's just another one of those sacred arts that regular folks will never understand.
That, or maybe it's just artist neglect. The other sounds much more reasonable, though.
I don't have a lot of time, so I better get going. Take care, and thanks for reading!

Whoops. Looks like that first salvo didn't quite go as planned.
Keeping busy! Been lots of stuff to do around the house, plus I'm helping with the Cape Comic Con website, and there's a lot of news and big announcements being made over there. I also was part of a video game podcast with some friends last night that may or may not see the light of day, depending on how badly everyone wants to subject the general public to one of the worst games possible--we'll see.
That's all for now! I have to get ready for work. Until next time, take care, and thanks for reading!
Ninja Versus Hypergoon Elite, Round 2

[Update by Brian]
Hey look! Not gone (but probably forgotten by now), it's a new edition of Mike and the Ninja after an unexpected 2-week hiatus! I apologize for the lack of updates--I was sick when I missed the first update, and I missed the second update because of some personal matters I won't discuss here. Everything is okay now, so no worries.
I don't have much else to add right now. I'm desperately behind on a number of items after being out of action for two weeks, so I'm mostly just busy trying to catch up right now. But I'll see you next week with a new comic. Until then, take care, thanks for your patience, and as always, thanks for reading.

Pneumonia + Bronchitis = No new comic this week. I've been totally out of the loop since Saturday and just now have enough wits about me to function to some degree again. I'm on probiotics and antibiotics at the same time!
So I'll see you next week when I'm a little more coherent and a lot less exhausted. Thanks for your patience!

[Update by Brian]
I hadn't seen this particular comic for several weeks. When I saw it again, I was surprised to find that I was genuinely excited about what was going on in the comic, beyond what I normally experience as the author. I feel like there's real tension and desperate intent behind everyone's actions. I realized I was really happy with how it turned out, and I hope you enjoy it, as well.
I'd like to spill some beans on one of the other projects I'm working on that I hope will kick in to gear sometime within the next couple of months. I'm starting a blog that will cover sports, video games, and pro wrestling, which are three topics that I really enjoy and have a desperate urge to write about. I maintained a sports blog for a little more than a year and a half quite some time ago, and it was a lot of fun to write every week. I shelved it to put more focus on the comic, and now that the comic is nearing its finale, I'd like to get back into blogging, as my writing itch is becoming unbearable, and I need to start tuning up for some additional writing projects I would like to take on. Right now, I'm just working on designing a website for the blog, but like I said, I'm hoping to start actual blogging within the next couple of months. This is also part of the reason why the game reviews on this site have dried up recently--I'm focusing this site solely on the comic and am saving up any video game material for the new blog.
I'll keep you posted on the new blog. But for now, I mostly just hope you're excited about what's going to happen next in Mike and the Ninja. So, I hope to see you back here next week. Until then, take care, and thanks for reading!

Happy new year to everyone out there in Internet Land! 2012 was a pretty good year for Mike and the Ninja, but 2013 is expected to be possibly the biggest year yet. Unfortunately, 2013 will see the end of Mike and the Ninja, but it will also see the release of the final volume of the Mike and the Ninja trilogy, a new Mike and the Ninja website, the usual appearance at Cape Comic Con, and maybe one or two additional Comic Con appearances, as well, depending on how things go. I've been wanting to expand our number of Comic Con appearances for a couple of years now. Will it finally happen in 2013?!
I'll keep you updated on the progress of all of the aforementioned big stuff that will be happening this year. In the meantime, take care, happy new year, and (as always) thanks for reading!
