So Stu and Mike need to talk some things out, and I'm trying some things here to keep their conversation interesting. First, we join Mike and Stu's dialogue, already in progress. This is a technique I've used before: only giving the readers the information they really need. They don't really need to see Mike and Stu exchange greetings here or anything like that.

Secondly, Mike is keeping busy while they talk. He and Stu aren't just standing and looking at each other. Instead, if you watch Mike, you can see that he's foraging for food in his barren apartment. This adds some visual interest to the page and helps keep the readers engaged. I feel like this captures the attention much better than if Mike and Stu were just sitting on the couch.
